February 2025 Recap

This February, we were working towards our one-year anniversary and taking time to pop into award ceremonies and public conversations along the way. At the top of the month, I attended the opening reception of I Got A Story To Tell, Tatiana Mack’s curatorial debut at Tanya Weddemire Gallery. The weekend of Valentine’s Day was packed with back-to-back trips to see Flight Into Egypt at the Met right before it closed and to interview Lydia Caesar on the night of her performance at the Billie Holiday Theatre in Brooklyn. I attended a thoughtful talk with Sarah Lewis ahead of the release for her new book. And I closed out the month with special occasions: the C. Virginia Fields Awards in Harlem, Nike’s 5th Annual Black Community Voices Dinner, and my own anniversary. Black Star Reviews is officially one year old!
