Three Shows at Schomburg
Life comes at you fast! I didn’t know that November would be my last time in a museum this year, but I’m relieved I ended on an uplifting note. I saw 3 exhibitions before they closed at the Schomburg Center in Harlem: Visibilidad y Resistencia (Afro-Mexican photography), Jimmy! God’s Black Revolutionary Mouth (a tribute to James Baldwin), and Letters from Home: The Black ABCs Reimagined (youth-created art in homage to a 1970 Black Pride project.) They share location, and in my opinion, a theme that I’ll be taking into 2025.
Alllllllllll over the planet our existence is resistance. Our happiness, our resilience, our families, our hairstyles, the way we put that sh*t on – it’s what binds us in the protection of love in this year and in the next. Let’s sing, let’s dance, let’s live.
