Harlem Votes 2026! The Launch
The Goal: 51% voter turnout in Harlem
In 2024, 90,945 people cast a vote in the race for State Senate District 30, out of 209,017 registered voters. Thatβs a 44% voter turnout. Not bad, but could be better.
As of February 2026, there are 216,362 registered voters in the district. To reach a 51% voter turnout, we need 110,344 residents of Harlem (State Senate District 30) to show up to the polls early, by mail, or on Election Day.
51% may not sound like much, but itβs above the average for an election with no presidential race especially considering that the groups least likely to vote (young people, people of color, people who make less than $100,000, and men) are a sturdy chunk of who lives in the neighborhood.
Voting is a first step toward solving the day-to-day issues affecting so many of us: affordable housing, cost of living, rising Subway fares, funding for youth and senior programs, quality public education, (and libraries!) We’ve got just under a month to make this happen. More to come!Β
