“Ask To See My Hands” at Bean and Log
It was equal parts accident and miracle when I wandered into a group show at Bean + Log. I’d been in the adjacent suite for “Geometric Language” at Tanya Weddemire Gallery and assumed both rooms were part of the show.
The curator, Jomani Danielle, was kind enough to not only explain the separation but provide a thought-provoking tour of “Ask To See My Hands” a multimedia exhibition that collectively depicts society’s relationship with religion. As someone who was raised in church (for real, for real) and maintains a spiritual life, seeing my own questions about christian dogma in the art on the gallery’s walls made me feel so much less alone in my exploration of divinity. I’m convinced that something omniscient led me there to bear witness. Two requests when you make your visit before April 28: watch the film by Malakai Imani and let Jem Soriano and Jomani know i sent you.
