National Black Theatre presents Packages O’ The Things We Deliver

Sxr OM Dxtchxss-Davis celebrated the culmination of their time as playwright-in-residence at National Black Theatre with the presentation of Packages O’ the Things We Deliver. The play, directed by Daniel Boisrond’s deeply intentional vision, delivers a message five years in the making. In her work, Davis makes sense of police brutality, neighborhood change/gentrification in her hometown of Minneapolis, and losing loved ones. The incorporation of ancestral wisdom, spiritual and intermediary realms, afrofuturism, and brotherhood spotlighted black joy even when the subject matter was baleful. As the director, Boisrond helped translate and frame the narrative, which is harder than it sounds when characters are traveling back and forth through time, space, and reality. Together, Daniel and Oya Mae invite us to remember that even when we cross over to the ancestral plane, we will always be connected to our people. Stay tuned for exclusive interviews with the playwright and director coming this month on YouTube! Special thanks to National Black Theatre for tickets.
